Getting to Mayo Clinic
I have to go to Mayo Clinic for a consult on Nov 2 and then possibly Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. These are two of the best hospitals in the U.S.A in terms of treating my Cancer. I have had one doctor say already that this may be incurable which means I will eventually be in Heaven with my baby girl Elayna who passed away at 5 months of age from Pulmonary Hypertension. You can read more about her by clicking on the "Miracle Babies" Link.

Since My husband Bill smashed his elbow in March and has 1 reconstructive surgery and another to remove a screw causing problems, we are very low on funds. His FMLA has run out and may loose his job soon along with medical benefits. The Cobra payment monthly for the Health Insurance is about 1200.00 per month.

Mayo Clinic -Friday, October 9, 2009 1:46 PM, CDT
Mayo called today.  We have an appointment for November 2nd.

We went to the Radiation Oncologist today.  He gave it to us straight.  This is a rare cancer.  It is incurable.  He's not sure, in his opinion, if surgery will be beneficial or not.  He's getting with a group of doctors on Wednesday to conference and throw around some ideas.

God gave us a giggle at the doctor's office.  Our nurse looked like Jamie Lee Curtis!!!

Please pray that God will just take care of this cancer for us.  Dr. Westgate told us he has seen miracles before, and he is hoping and praying that God will give us one.  Please ask God to remove this cancer and restore my body.  Please pray for wisdom for the doctors and traveling mercies as we get ready to go to Mayo Clinic in MN.  But most importantly, please pray for God's will.

Background Story
In the beginning of June 2009 I started experiencing pregnancy type symptoms.  After a negative pregnancy test, I went to the doctor to find out what was wrong.  Two months, several tests and waiting sessions later, the doctors found a mass in my lower right abdomen. Since the mass was pinching off my right ureter, they put a stint in to keep it open and drain my right kidney which had started collecting fluid.  They checked out the kidney while in there with the scope and, thankfully, it is still in good shape.

The next day, they performed a needle biopsy using a very long needle and CAT scan machine.  We waited another couple weeks and the test results came back benign. However, due to it's placements, the doctors planned to remove it.  They went in to remove it Laparoscopic, but found that it was more attached than they thought and that it was a bit more complex.  The opened up my belly to do an exploratory surgery.  They found that the right ureter is coming up through the middle of the tumor (completely surrounded by it) and it is attached to the outside of the veina cava.  They cut off a big chunk of it for biopsy.

Monday, September 27th we found out that I have cancer.  I have a well-differentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma.  It is in Stage 1 (we caught it early) and is non-aggressive.  It is attached to the veina cava and has completely surrounded the right ureter.  At this point we have only been told about surgery, but I am going to the doctor on Monday to discuss what another doctor called "encouraging alternatives to surgery."
