2008 Updates

December 16, 2008 - A little over 16 months

Eddie doesn't weigh as much as we thought.  I forgot that he was getting weighed on different scales.  According to Dr. Eskridge's scale he weighs aprox. 18.5 lbs.  That means he really hasn't gained weight.  We are back to monthly weight checks for Eddie.  He has moved him to finish up his formula only I mix it to 30 calorie instead of the regular 20 calorie.  Then he will go to pediasure to get 30 calories instead of the 20 milk usually provides.  He cannot go to milk because he is not eating enough to get him to gain weight and moving him to milk will take away vitamins he is now getting from the formula and pediasure.  The only thing that doesn't worry us too much is that he is developing and doing new things each and every day so that tells us that he is developing mentally, just not so much size wise!

November 29, 2008

Eddie had his hypospaidus repair repaired again and is doing well.  There has been no infections and he doesn't seem to be in any pain.  We are eagerly waiting for him to hit the 20 lb. mark so he can get into a different car seat!  He doesn't fit too well in his pumpkin seat any more, but cannot move to a different seat until he hits that 20 lb mark.  He is a very picky eater!  He snacks more than anything eating only little bits at a time!  His new favorite toy is his sock monkey that Grandpa Ed gave him quite a while ago, but he wasn't interested in stuffed animals until recently!

November 22, 2008 - 15 1/2 months

Eddie is so funny.  He is really into mimicing right now!  He also likes to play hide and seek!  He weighs 19 1/2 lbs and is 29 1/2 inches long.  He is growing, but slowly.  That's okay, we get good use out his clothes before he out grows them!  He has really began to like pillows and stuffed animals.  He likes to carry them around the house, put them down, lay down on them, pick them up again and move them again!  He also likes to wrestle with Teddy!

November 6, 2008 - almost 15 months

Eddie is still growing away.  We now buy him 12 month shirts even though they are long so he has room to grow in them for the winter.  He wears size 3-4 in children's shoes, and 3/6 month pants; any bigger, and he walks right out of them.

October 21, 2008 - 14 1/2 months

Eddie is still developing so much.  He says more words each and every day.  He hasn't really grown a whole lot.  He weighs 18 lbs and is still about 27 inches tall.  He is again having trouble sleeping.  He favorite thing to do is to play in water.  It doesn't matter where either.  He splashes in the tub, the dog dish, and even the toilet if you're not fast enough.  He has a little girlfriend at chruch named Maya.  They were rocking on the teeter-totter at church and Eddie leaned over and kissed her hands.  Maya just smiled at him.  So he did it again.  She smiled again.  However, when Eddie tried to kiss her on the cheek, she slapped him across the face.  He just looked at me with this dumbfounded look on his face.  I just started laughing.  It was so funny!

October 3, 2008 - almost 14 months

Eddie is finally getting some teeth!  He has cut one through on the bottom and has a couple trying to come in on top.  He loves to eat big people food.  He doesn't want to eat baby food anymore.  He is walking all over the place and getting into everything.  His favorite thing to do to annoy mommy is to get into the dogs' water dish and splash all over the kitchen floor.  He can also "raise the roof", clap, dance, wave bye-bye, and say "no, no, no!"

September 21, 2008 - 13 1/2 months

Eddie is still doing great!  He is taking steps now!!  The most he has taken is 10 steps at a time!  He is very eager to move.  He is standing on his own for longer periods of time.  We haven't gotten any videos yet, because as soon as he sees the camera he decides that he doesn't want to try any more.  He is also back to sleeping on his own in his own bed!!!!!  You can only imagine how great it feels!  He is getting so independent with eating too!  He likes to try it himself before he'll let me feed him.  He is also eating more "big people" food like mashed potatos and rice - things that are soft or has small pieces that are easy to swallow.  He still doesn't have any teeth.  He likes to rough house with Daddy!

September 11, 2008 - 13 months

Eddie is doing great!  He likes to say "dada" over and over again.  He has also taken 2 steps unassisted and now plays peek-a-boo!  He still weighs about 17 1/2 to 18 lbs.  He doesn't like to sit still at all.  He is getting better at sleeping in his own bed at night, and eating so much more!

August 26, 2008 - 1 year

Eddie had his 1 year check up.  He got 3 shots and blood drawn for a lead test.  Needless to say, he wasn't happy about it.  He weighs 17 1/2 lbs. and is 27 1/2 inches long.  Dr. Eskridge says that he may have to have growth hormones to make him start growing - he's developing fine, he just isn't gaining weight or height very quickly!  Of course, he could be taking after the Weaver side of the family in the height department.  Some of them are under 5 foot!

August 5, 2008 - 53 weeks old - almost 1!

Eddie is still doing well.  He had an incredible birthday party.  He absolutely loves his new toys.  He just keeps getting bigger and bigger!

July 29, 2008 - 52 weeks old!

Eddie had his head ultrasound today.  The amount of fluid surrounding his brain is the same.  The ventricles look normal, so all is as it should be.  They will take another ultrasound in a couple of months to make sure that the fluid level is still the same or lessening.  He weighs about 17-20 lbs. and is getting bigger and bigger.  He is now starting to say "mum-ma" more and more often, which I love.  He also is saying "baba" to let us know when he wants a bottle.  He has said these words before, but very seldom.  Now he is saying them all the time, over and over again just like he has been saying "dada"!

July 22, 2008 - 51 weeks old!

Eddie is growing by leaps and bounds.  He is now wearing 6 mo or 6-9 mo clothing.  He is pulling up and crawling all over the place.  He is getting steadier when he tries to walk holding on to your hand too.  The doctors say he has caught up developmentally.  He is doing all the things physically that an 11-month-old should be doing.  We are so excited.  Other than being short and small he is doing great!

July 15, 2008 - 50 weeks old!

Eddie hasn't changed a lot this week.  He's still chattering "Dada" all the time.  He is starting to use a beginning sippy cup.  Nothing is safe anymore!  We have a terrible time trying to keep him out of the dog food bowls!

July 8, 2008 - 49 weeks old!

Eddie is still about the same size wise.  He is getting back on a schedule very slowly.  Last night he didn't wake up at all!!  Yeah!!!  He is pulling up on everything he can get his hands on.  He also likes to hold your hands and walk around the room like a big boy!

July 1, 2008 - 48 weeks old!

Eddie weighs about 20 lbs and is still about 28 1/2 inches long.  He is still talking a lot, moving quickly, crawling all over the place, pulling up on things, and everything else he has been doing.  We are still struggling at getting through a good night without waking up, and it is taking it's toll on me.  He still refuses to say "mama" any more and I think he is toying with me.  He knows I want him to say it and we keep trying to get him to say it, but he just smiles and says "dada!"

June 24, 2008 - 47 weeks old!

Eddie weighs 20 lbs and is 28 1/2 inches long.  Eddie is crawling!  Nothing is safe anymore!  We had to "baby proof" our house for now, but it is still hard to get used to him crawling all over the place.  He's never where we left him for long.  He is also pulling up and talking a lot.  He says "dada" mostly, but he also says "mama", "baba", and "Yeah!" occasionally.

June 3, 2008 - 44 weeks old!

Eddie is growing fast.  He is eating so much better.  He loves macaroni & cheese, peaches, bananas, applesauce, and squash; but ice cream is his favorite.  In fact, I can't eat ice cream without sharing it with him now, or he throws a fit, and he's not too happy when it's gone either.  He has taken two crawling "steps".  I can't wait until he is crawling all over the place.  However, I have been told that then I will wish that he wasn't able to crawl at all.  He still only says "mama" when he wants me and can't have me.  Other than that, he just says "dada" all day long.

May 20, 2008 - 42 weeks old!

Eddie still weighs 16 lbs and is still 26 inches long.  He is starting to eat better, but he is not sure what to do with his tongue during eating.  He has now pulled up to a standing position on his own.  He still hasn't crawled, but is working on it.  It won't be long now.  He now also gives "Hi-5s"!

May 13, 2008 - 41 weeks old!

Eddie is getting so big!  He is starging to eat better, but you can tell he still doesn't feel well.  His little eyes are swollen from time to time and his poor little nose just drips.  I am very certain that it is seasonal allergies.  He is still working on trying to crawl.  He does a sort of army crawl, you know, no legs involved, and he rolls all over the place.

May 6, 2008 - 40 weeks old!

Eddie weighs 16 lbs and is 26 inches long.  He has not been eating too well this week either.  He either has a cold or allergies, and so his nose has been running like crazy, his eyes are red-rimmed, and he has a little cough.  He's been sleeping a lot this week too.  He has said his first word, "Dada!"  Needless to say, Bill loves that!

April 22, 2008 - 38 weeks old!

Eddie weighs the same and is about the same length.  He just doesn't seem to be growing very fast.  However, he is now in 3-6 month clothing, which is very exciting!  He is still scooting.  He is now doing what we call "the bridge".  He lifts his butt in the air while his hands and head are on the ground at one end and his feet are on the ground at the other end.  I'll have to take a picture to explain it better.  He loves to do the bridge and then look up at you.  We always clap and say, "Yeah!" really loud.  He smiles and does it all over again.  He loves positive reinforcement from the people around him.

April 15, 2008 - 37 weeks old!

Eddie now weighs about 15 lbs.  Yeah!!  He is also 25 1/2 inches long.  He is eating much better.  He is sitting up on his own and rolling around all over the place.  We are trying to get him to try scooting in preparation of crawling, but he'd much rather stand up with you holding on to him.

April 8, 2008 - 36 weeks old!

Eddie weighs the same, at least according to my scale at home.  He just doesn't seem to be growing very fast right now.  However he is doing so many things.  He is rolling over from his back to his tummy and from his tummy to his back.  He is starting to hold his own bottle.  He is also talking so much more.  He  loves eating.

April 1, 2008 - 35 weeks old!

Eddie's head is back on the growth curve.  He has lost weight and is back up to 13 lbs and 11 oz.  Dr. Eskridge says that our only goal this month is to get him to gain weight.  He is developing well in all other areas.  He can sit up by himself for about a minute before falling.  He in now doing well with tummy time and holds his head up very easily, but he still doesn't really like it.  He likes to see what is going on.  He can almost roll completely over from his back to his tummy, but can completely roll from his tummy to his back. He loves bananas, peaches, and carrots.  However, he really doesn't like peas.  He refuses to swallow them and gags from holding them in his mouth instead of swallowing them.  I can't say that I blame him.  I don't like peas either.

March 25, 2008 - 34 weeks old!

Eddie is doing well.  He has lost a little bit of weight because he has not been eating as well.  He slept a lot after his circumcision and didn't get to eat much.  Therefore, he is still not used to eating well, but he is getting better.

March 18, 2008 - 33 weeks old!

Eddis weighs 13 lbs and 6 oz.  He is still 24 3/4 inches long.  He is recovering well from his hypospadious repair and circumcision.  Dr. Neal says he is the happiest baby he has every seen.  He is doing so well.  He is so handsome.

February 19, 2008 - 29 weeks old!

Eddie is now 12 lb 12 oz.  He is still 24 1/4 inches long.  He is starting to outgrow some of his 0-3 month sleepers.  They are just getting too short.  He is taking 7 oz of formula every 4 - 6 hours.  He is still eating cereal every evening before he goes to bed.

Eddie is still doing just super.  He now weighs 12 lbs 4 oz.  He is 23 1/2 inches long.  He is taking 5 - 6 oz every 4 - 5 hours and is eating cereal from a spoon in the evening before bed.

January 29, 2008 - 26 weeks old!

January 22, 2008 - 25 weeks old!

Eddie weighs 11 lbs 6 oz.  He is 22 3/4 inches long.  He takes 5 oz of formula every 4 - 5 hours and is eating about 1/4 cup of cereal from a spoon in the evening before bed.  He sleeps through the night pretty well.  He wakes up when he loses his paci, but goes right back to sleep when it is given back to him.  He is an extremely happy baby.  He only cries when he is tired or hungry.  He is always smiling.  We thank God for Eddie every day.

January 15, 2008 - 24 weeks old!

Eddie is doing well.  He is always looking for his next meal.  He seems oblivious to what is going on in our family.  He never really got to spend much time with his little sister, but we know that he will remember her.  We will make sure that he does.  He is cooing and making more and more noises each day.  He grasps his paci and puts it in and pulls it out of his mouth.  He has been our little ray of sunshine in the middle of all of this.

January 6, 2008 - 5 months old!

Eddie weighs 11 lbs.  He has almost out grown his newborn clothes because he is getting too long.  He is staying with Grandma and Grandpa Weaver most of the time and coming to visit Mommy and Daddy in St. Louis for short periods of time.  He is growing so fast.  He is making more and more noises.  I miss him so much while he's gone, but Laynie really needs us right now and I know that he is in good hands with Gma and Gpa.
